Preventive Women’s Health

Preventive visits provide an opportunity to review your health history, address concerns, and plan screening based on your age, medical history, and individual risk factors.

Cervical Cancer Screening

Pap tests and HPV tests help identify cervical changes and risks. The appropriate test and interval depend on age, prior results, and personal history; not every patient needs a Pap test every year.

Breast Health

We discuss breast changes, personal and family history, and when mammography or additional evaluation may be appropriate. Screening decisions are individualized.

Sexual & Reproductive Health

Preventive care may include contraception counseling, STI screening, HPV vaccination discussions, preconception planning, and questions about menstrual or sexual health.

Bone & General Health

As patients age, preventive visits may address bone health and osteoporosis screening, lifestyle, menopause concerns, and coordination with primary care for blood pressure, diabetes, and other routine screening.

Preventive Care Across Life Stages

Recommendations change over time. HPV vaccination is routinely recommended in adolescence; colorectal cancer screening generally begins at age 45 for average-risk adults; bone density screening is commonly recommended at age 65 or earlier when risk factors are present. Individual circumstances can change these timelines.

When to Schedule a Problem Visit

Abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, breast changes, urinary symptoms, or other new concerns may need a separate evaluation rather than waiting for an annual preventive visit.
