Dr. Margarita Chudner, MDOBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGYAppointment Information

Adolescent Gynecology

Adolescence brings changes in menstrual cycles, hormones, and reproductive health. A gynecology visit offers a supportive setting to ask questions, discuss symptoms, and understand what is normal at each stage of development.

First Gynecology Visits

An initial visit often focuses on conversation, health history, menstrual concerns, and education. A pelvic examination is not routinely needed at a first visit when there are no symptoms requiring one. The need for any examination is discussed in advance.

Periods & Menstrual Concerns

Evaluation of painful periods, heavy bleeding, missed or irregular cycles, and symptoms that interfere with school, sports, or daily activities. Treatment options depend on the patient's age, symptoms, and medical history.

Vulvar & Vaginal Symptoms

Assessment of itching, irritation, unusual discharge, discomfort, and possible infections, with an individualized and sensitive approach to examination and testing.

Reproductive Health Education

Confidentiality-aware discussions of puberty, HPV vaccination, sexual health, contraception, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections when appropriate.

What to Expect During a Visit

Dr. Chudner reviews the patient's concerns, medical history, and goals. When appropriate, part of the visit may be spent speaking privately with the adolescent, while involving a parent or guardian in accordance with applicable laws and the patient's needs. Any examination or testing is explained before it occurs.

When to Seek Care

Consider scheduling a visit for very heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, severe cramps, persistent pelvic pain, absent or unusually irregular periods, or bothersome vulvar or vaginal symptoms. Sudden severe pain, fainting, or heavy bleeding with dizziness warrants urgent medical assessment.
